About us

Bellville Athletics Club boasts a rich history dating back to 1933, with its roots in the Parow Athletics and Cycling Club. The club evolved, becoming the Bellville Athletics and Cycling Club in 1938, and in 1958, the athletics and cycling branches became autonomous, leading to the formation of the Bellville Athletics Club. Initially focused primarily on Track and Field, the club expanded its scope with the growing popularity of Road Running, leading to the establishment of separate management committees for track & field and road running in 1982. These two committees together form the unified Bellville Athletics Club.

Our club runs are conducted in and around Jack Muller Park and Boston, with routes in the Tygerberg area utilised by advanced runners. We host a weekly time trial on Thursdays at 6 pm, offering 3km and 5km options. Bellville AC is also involved in organising and participating in various road running events, such as the BAKGAT 10km Road Race, and we support other local runs.

Bellville AC has a strong legacy of developing talented athletes, with many having gone on to represent South Africa on the international stage. Our history includes producing high-calibre athletes who have competed at the highest levels, contributing significantly to provincial and national teams.

Our clubhouse is situated in the Danie Uys Park (opposite DF Malan High School), off Frans Conradie Road, Bellville.
